Mr. Nyong joined the services of then National Electric Power Authority (now Power Holding Company of Nigeria) in 1992 as a Manager Safety Development and Administration where he was engaged in the following duties:

  • Identification of Safety Training needs;
  • Design of training contents and presentations;
  • Incident reporting and investigations.

He later rose to the position of Assistant General Manager, Occupational Health and Safety and along the line was involved in:

  • Supervision, coordination, and reporting on HSE activities within the company;
  • Monitor the implementation of and compliance with corporate HSE policy;
  • Advise management on HSE matters and Risk Management;
  • Review of corporate HSE policy; and
  • Training

In the course of his employment with PHCN he participated in various capacity building programs facilitated by:

  • Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria;
  • British Safety Council;

  • Management School, London;
  • Princeton Energy Resources International, USA; and
  • Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) amongst others.

He is a member of the following professional bodies:

  • Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria;
  • Chartered Institute of Management;
  • Nigerian Environmental Society.
